Why This Project Matters
The Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Prague is the official cultural institution of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Czech Republic — part of a network of cultural institutes under the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture. They organize exhibitions, film festivals, literary events, concerts, and educational programs across the entire Czech Republic.
This project is personal. As Bulgarians living abroad, we believe in the importance of cultural bridges. BKI doesn’t just organize events — it keeps a connection alive between two countries, two languages, two histories.
The Belief Behind the Work
Cultural institutions deserve digital experiences that reflect the weight and warmth of their mission. BKI’s website isn’t a marketing tool — it’s a gateway. For Czech audiences discovering Bulgarian art for the first time, for the Bulgarian diaspora staying connected to home, for students and academics researching Slavic culture.

What We Did
- WordPress development — built and maintained a bilingual (Czech/Bulgarian) website that handles a constantly updating program of events, exhibitions, and news
- Gallery management — a system for showcasing current and past exhibitions in the institute’s physical gallery space
- Event program — an organized, filterable view of cultural events with dates, descriptions, and media
- SEO for cultural discovery — helping people in Prague and across the Czech Republic find Bulgarian cultural events
- Ongoing maintenance — security updates, performance tuning, content support, and ensuring the site stays reliable year-round
The Result
A website that serves as the digital face of Bulgarian culture in the Czech Republic — bilingual, regularly updated, and trusted by both the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture and the local Czech audience. Home to 18 years of the Bulgarian Film Festival, countless exhibitions, and a library of Bulgarian literature.
